Healthcare Integration Engineer

Engineering – Minneapolis, Minnesota
Department Engineering
Employment Type Full Time
Minimum Experience Experienced

Role Overview:

Healthcare Integration Engineers at Datica are responsible for building creative solutions that enable our customers to exchange healthcare information with various systems and allow their products to function securely and efficiently. Engineers are assigned to customer integration projects where they are the technical point person on the Datica side, leading to a close working relationship with each customer’s management and technical staff. Their knowledge of industry standards like HL7, FHIR, and CDA, as well as clinical workflows (at a high level), allow them to contribute to scoping discussions that determine how Datica will best serve each customer. 1-3 years of experience in a technical and healthcare-oriented role is preferred.

Mirth Connect, an open-source integration engine software, is the primary tool of a Datica Integration Engineer and is where the interfaces that make up the heart of each integration are built. A working knowledge of Java and/or Javascript, the Linux server OS, RESTful APIs, and computer networks, is useful in allowing an HIE to have the most creativity and flexibility in building the interface logic. Finally, each HIE should be familiar with good development practices, such as clean, efficient, and commented code, and have some experience with technical writing. 2-4 years of experience working in software development, application management, or server administration is preferred.

Integration Engineers utilize a wide array of modern technologies, have the ability to learn and work quickly as needed, are passionate problem solvers, and work well both within a team and on their own. They are encouraged to take responsibility and ownership of their work in order to provide our customers with the best solutions, as well as seek to grow in areas that interest them to continue to better themselves. While being hard-working and organized is also encouraged, they should still maintain a healthy work-life balance and enjoy “letting their hair down” with the rest of the Datica team - “work hard, play hard” would be an apt description!
